Disney Princesses as Noir Women

Artist, Astor Alexander loves to put a noir lens on different pop culture icons such as Dragon Ball Z nd the Witcher. Nerdist has posted a series of pop art noir prints featuring the princesses of Disney fame. First up, Princess Tiana from Disney's The Princess and the Frog in a sleek white gown reminiscent of Gene Tierney in the classic film noir Laura.

“My subconscious is playing with ideas all the day,” Alexander told Nerdist. “BUT!—I can say that when I asked myself, ‘What can I do with Cinderella?’, I thought of the scene in the opera house from Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, when the MI6 agent [Rebecca Ferguson] gets in sniper position. Sleeping Beauty fits the bill for Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep in her remake entitled The Long Sleep. That doesn't look like Humphrey Bogart in the background. As for the silk slip, The Hays Act wouldn't allow anything resembling sexy undergarments in a film noir, but Elizabeth Taylor definitely hit the mark in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Finally, Alexander asks, "But who would be the most fatale of all the femmes? “Well…” he said, “Mulan is a trained warrior, so that’ll make her pretty ‘fatale’…”
